Jamaica, located in the Greater Antilles of the Caribbean, is a tropical Island that has an average temperature of 27 to 30 degrees celcius (81-88 degrees fahrenheit) all year round. Jamaica is south of Cuba and west of Haiti and has lush vegetations, excellent floras and faunas, waterfalls and more. Jamaica has a population of almost 3 million people too.

This lovely Island is predominantly a Christian country and has ethnicities such as African, European, Syrian, Chinese and Indian descent and mixed descent. A motto in Jamaica best describes this as, "Out of many one people." Jamaica has fourteen parishes and three cordinals.

The national heroes of Jamaica are Nanny (lived and died in Nanny Town) ,Sam Sharpe (1801-1832),  Paul Bogle (1822-1865), George William Gordon (1820-1865), Marcus Garvey (1887-1940) , Sir Alexander Bustamante (1884-1977) and Norman Manley (1893-1969).
Nanny, Sam Sharpe, Paul Bogle, and George William Gordon contributed to social justice in Jamaica and the emancipation of slavery. Marcus Garvey contributed to the philosophy of accepting and loving ones self, and unity of the black diaspora. Sir Alexander Bustamante (JLP Prime Minitster after Jamaican Independence)  and Norman Manley (PNP) contributed to the Jamaican poliical system after Jamaican Independence from the United Kingdom on the 6th of August 1962.
 
The political system of Jamaica can arguably have commenced in the 1600s during Britsh colonization. Therefore, Jamaica has over 300 years of political history.
The Prime Minister of Jamaica today is Portia Simpson-Miller(PNP) and the leader of opposition is former Education Minister Mr. Andrew Holness(JLP). The literacy rate for boys in Jamaica is 84.1% and 91.6% for girls. And, unemployment is 13.7%.

The main source of economic benefits to Jamaica is tourism, exportation of fruits, and vegetables, bauxite, gypsum and other materials. Jamaica is highly talented when it comes to sports, culinary arts, business, music and drama. Jamaica has something to offer everyone!
